Actually rode today! Sweet...

We were finally able to get away from this torture fest.

Today was the first day of the week that we could actually get outside and ride so we took full advantage of it!  Still feeling a little bit under the weather, we decided to do a nice spinning ride to loosen up.  Riding the trainer has some benefits and today I noticed some of its flaws.  My legs feel like Jello!  They hurt... like if I am riding through sand.  They have lots of power but they feel as if they are sore on the inside.  I think it is all the "sanding climbing" on the trainer that has buffed them up, or they are just beat up by all the resistance.  Either way we did a couple of miles and felt how it was to be on the road again.... at least for a day because seems like tomorrow will be another cruddy day.

Take advantage of every opportunity you get!

Ehh throw in a rest day...

I'm feeling a little bit off today.  Might be the beginning of the flu so I decided to just take it easy today. ZZzzZzzz

I got game....

Today I hit the court!  Laced up my Nike's grabbed a basketball and went out the school some punks!   Well the first guy to challenge me was an 8 year old kid.... He did not look that tough so I challenged him to a game of horse.  It was just a kid so I started off easy to not discourage the kid.  All of a sudden he starts doing trick shots off the backboard, bouncing it off his head and doing layups.  He took me out quick!!! I got horse and all he had was the H!  Damn, kids now a days got skills! lol

After that warm up, well lets just say it was a warm up cause I will ignore the fact that I got embarrassed by an 8 year old,  we started the real game of 5 on 5.  Now I brought out my skills which were pretty much my awesome endurance.  I can run around this guys and not get tired, it is awesome! I can't shoot worth a damn but I can get there!!! lol

After the game I went home to get our good training ride done.  Billy, Serge, Sebastioangns and Chris showed up for the fun.  Overall it was a good workout day mixing it up with bball.  On to tomorrow!!!!

Rest day...

Day off.  Thats it.  We all need it.  Tomorrow we go at it once again with full power in the legs.  Played a little Call of Duty and now I am checking out the Oregon Auburn Game! It's a good one!

Weather does not look good, probably gonna be a week on the trainer!

Some good deals I found...

I am always surfing the web for awesome deals but sometimes I just don't need them or the deal is not in my size. I'm gonna start posting these deals on my blog randomly as a second blog of the day to just spread the word.

 For example

These are the exact shoes are the exact shoes my friend Billy rides with for only $39 bucks! If you have a smaller size foot, buy these carbon shoes asap, they are $170 road shoes.

I just purchased these shoe covers for $4.50 and they do the job of blocking some of the cold wind off my toes.

I also got this beenie to cover my delicate ears. Works perfect and only costed me $4 bucks last week, price went up on it now but its still a good deal

NASHBAR.com has some real good deals going on right now so check them out too.

Took Sunday off, had a day with the family...

The first thing I usually do in the morning is grab my Iphone and check the weather.  Today looked like doomsday!!! Look at the pic! lol So I just went back to sleep to later find out that it was the most beautiful day ever.  I felt like it was a good day to head out to the flea market to see if I could get any deals.  We went to the big flea market in Brownsville where you can get anything and everything! You can find stuff from the mall here, its like if your shopping a Hollister, A&F, Macy's lol  well most of the stuff is fake and or broken but you will find it!

If you want pampers here is the spot!  Brought to you by good ol' medicaid and having 12 kids!

Found a cool looking bike, it was two bikes parallel connected together. I would be going in circles with this thing because I would want to drop the passenger! lol

After we took off from the Mexican Mall, we went to Panda Express!! They just opened the first one here in my area and it is one of my favorite restaurants from when I was a chunker.  ahhh memories!!!

Later in the day we played some tennis to burn a little calories.  I then ended the day with some Wendy's chili and chicken nuggets to wash it down.  Now that is what I call an off day.  We need one of these days every now and then to keep us sane.  Back to the plan tomorrow!

Cycling to South Padre Island 10k...

Why not... it's just 70 miles...  That is what we said yesterday, we wanted to make the trip out there because my friend Cindy was going to do a 10k run over the causeway and we always try and support each other in events. Make things more fun to do when you have buddies cheering you on...

Today we battled a headwind and fog for 70 miles...we did not think about that.  Thats the main problem in the valley, we do not have hills, we do not have winter storms, all we do have is wind and lots of it!  It was a smooth steady paced ride in which I tried to keep over 20 mph for the whole duration. It ended up being a good 20.3 average, a good time considering I was fighting the head wind. Once we got there Billy had enough energy to do the 10k himself so he laced up his running shoes and jumped into the group.  He ran a great time of 52 min even after doing the whole ride and pulling for hours!

Train just appeared out of the fog, it was thick this morning.

A picture of how my ride looked for most of the morning.

I rode my bike along the runners. Here I am drafting in one of Billy's long pulls.

Cindy did good for not training. Here she is asking for two beers while running, didn't know she was such a drunk! lol

Nothing beats a great ride with a great breakfast...

This morning started around 4:30 because we had planned an interval ride around 5 am. Mike, Billy and I were the brave ones to get the training done.  My usual riding partner Sergio missed out on what was to be one of the harder and essential training rides to get faster.  It usually happens when we do these harder rides his alarm does not work.  Every...Single...Time....  He has missed more hard training rides than Billy because of his sundial alarm.  Like usual, I always give a couple wake up text to them and they usually text back right away.  It was as expected, 4 wake up text later and I just gave up on him and headed out to the ride with Billy who lives around 30 miles away and made it on time.  Well today we did 5 time trial intervals, each interval I would go a little harder as to tire out the guys.  It worked and I immediately dropped Mike who says he was trying to stay in his zone of 170 beats per minute.  We were going 21 and my heart-rate was at 137 so I just went ahead and took off a little harder making him suck wheel the rest of the sets. Billy, trying to be a Serge, went side by side with me huffing and puffing only falling back for a minute then he would pull back up.  Well it was a good ride and we finished it off at Savory perks again.  From all that tourture to one of the most chill coffee shop there is.

Billy talking about his "dropping" Mike

Cool old guys bikes. Mike will soon join the club. lol

Getting new faces on the trainers...

This is what it is all about... Get someone on the bike and make him work hard to get to the point where they want to be.  Adrian has been riding off and on for about a year now and it seems like he never puts full effort into his cycling.  Of course he has been getting better over the year but he never seems to push himself over his limits in order to really make any gains.  Well today I got him on the trainer, I tightened up the tension, blasted the speakers, and gave him some motivational yelling!  He had the hardest workout he has ever had in his life.  On the trainer there is no coasting... you have to push yourself, you have to get past the pain and keep those legs moving.  I'm sure he will feel it tomorrow but I know that he gave it all he had.  Put the effort into every ride you do and your goals will be accomplished.

The amazing story of a woman who lost 500 pounds...
